Lahore (Punjab Province):Â Sui Northern Gas Pipelines Limited (SNGPL) organized world day events with the support of ASSE Pakistan at their head office and regional office in Lahore. Similar events were organized at their offices in Faisalabad, Multan and Qadirpur where ASSE Pakistan chapter members gave presentations. Events at DESCON Engineering and PEPSICO in Lahore were also supported by the ASSE team. Main event in Lahore was at CIWCE which was attended by ASSE members. Dr. Rizwan, Director General of rescue services in Punjab, gave presentation on emergencies handing and need of Heath and Safety reforms in Pakistan to prevent accidents.The program duration was 3 pm to 5 pm.
Karachi (Sindh Province):Â Employers federation of Pakistan (EFP) organized large event at this occasion in metropolitan city of Karachi where Country Director ILO and ASSE team were also invited. Presentation on ASSE was given by Mr. Akhtar Quddus, the regulatory chair of ASSE Pakistan chapter to the participants. Syed Amjad Ali, President ASSE Pakistan chapter signed MOU with the EFP. Hope this will open avenues for growth in the ASSE membership and involvement of ASSE team for the promotion of OHS in Pakistan. Brochure developed by ASSE Pakistan was distributed among participants to promote membership and message issued by the ILO on World Safety day also distributed at this occasion.The program duration was 3 pm to 8 pm.
Quetta (Baluchistan Province):Â Presentation was given by Mohammad Sohaib, the ASSE Pakistan coordinator for Baluchistan, at seminar organized by the Pakistan Engineering Council, Quetta. Introduction was given about ASSE Pakistan and importance of world safety day was highlighted to prevent accidents. Fida Khan, publications coordinator ASSE Pakistan, organized seminar at Uch power plant Dera Muard Jamali, Baluchistan. Â Â The program duration was 3 pm to 5 pm.
Peshawar (KP Province):Â Khyber Pakhtunkhwa Oil & Gas Exploration Company Limited (KPOGCL) organized world day event at their head office with support of ASSE Pakistan. Other event was in Hattar industrial estate where ASSE team gave presentation. The program duration was 3 pm to 5 pm. Picture will be shared by tomorrow.
Islamabad (Capital City):Â Walk was organized in Islamabad. Students from Universities, representatives from Government departments, private organizations, Safety consultants and media representatives attended. Speakers highlighted the importance of public awareness about safety, importance of safety education, need of OHS legislative reforms, and effective implementation of laws to prevent accidents and minimize deaths of workers and property losses in view of extensive economic development in Pakistan in coming years.
