American Society of Safety Engineers (ASSE) Pakistan organized a seminar to highlight significance of Safety, Health and Environment for sustainable development of Pakistan in perspective of Pakistan Vision 2025″ at Lahore Saturday 3rd September 2016.
Safety professionals, consultants, products and service providers, contractors, and representatives from relevant departments of Provincial Government attended the seminar. Exhibition of safety products attracted attention of participants.
Program started with Recitation from Holy Quran. Safety briefing was given and National anthem was played. Video message from global President of ASSE was also played.
Naeem Subhani, Vice President of ASSE Pakistan chapter briefed the participants about aims and objectives of society. He invited the participants to get ASSE membership.
Director General Emergency Rescue services Brigadier Retired Rashid Zia briefed the participants about Rescue 1122 services and major achievements. This model has been copied in SAAR countries.
Founder of Rescue 1122 services, Dr. Rizwan Naseer highlighted the importance of changing minds of people for developing safety culture by adopting proactive approach in order to prevent accidents.
In the panel discussion, it was recommended to constitute working group comprising of subject experts to review existing laws and regulations and suggest comprehensive reforms in OHS laws and regulations.
Syed Amjad Ali, President ASSE Pakistan thanked the participants at the end. Souvenirs were presented to the guests to acknowledge their contribution in making seminar a success.
Seminar will assist in promoting safety culture through regulatory reforms, their effective implementation, training & development, and public awareness using media.
